Chargers' Slater designated to come off IR, won't play vs. Jaguars
The Los Angeles Chargers designated left tackle Rashawn Slater to return from injured reserve, head coach Brandon Staley announced Tuesday.
Slater - who was thought to be lost for the season after rupturing his biceps tendon in September - won't play in Saturday's wild-card game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
However, Slater's 21-day window to begin practicing is now open, and Staley said he expects him to take part in this week's sessions.
The No. 13 pick in the 2021 draft made the Pro Bowl and was named a second-team All-Pro in his rookie season.
His return would be a major boost for the Chargers' hopes of making a postseason run.
Rookie sixth-round pick Jamaree Salyer started at left tackle over the last 14 games of the season.
