Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been released from a Buffalo hospital and is headed home, the team announced Wednesday.

Hamlin arrived in Buffalo on Monday after being discharged from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He underwent a series of cardiac, neurological, and vascular testing on Tuesday before being released.

"We have completed a series of tests and evaluations, and in consultation with the team physicians, we are confident that Damar can be safely discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home and with the Bills," Jamie Nadler, chief quality officer at Kaleida Health, said in a statement released by the team.

This comes nine days after Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin had his heartbeat restored on the field and was transported to a Cincinnati hospital that night.

Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott said the team will leave it up to Hamlin when he wants to return to the Bills' facility.

"His health is first and foremost on our mind as far as this situation," McDermott said Wednesday, according to Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. "And then when he feels ready, we will welcome him back."

The 24-year-old Hamlin was a sixth-round pick of the Bills in 2021. He had 91 tackles and one forced fumble this season.
