Hamilton police investigating source of bomb threat at CHCH

Hamilton police are investigating the source of a bomb threat targeting CHCH's news station in Waterdown on Wednesday morning.

Const. Indy Bharaj said police responded to Innovation Drive, a commercial strip off Highway 5, after receiving a bomb threat from an anonymous caller around 9 a.m.

The caller targeted CHCH, said news director Greg O'Brien, adding staff had to evacuate the newly built building.

It was considered a credible threat by police," he said.

O'Brien said officers scoured the inside and outside of the studio and found no bomb. We have since re-entered the building and have resumed normal operations and we thank (police) for their work."

Police continue to investigate the source of the anonymous caller who placed the threat, Bharaj said. Officers remained in the area as of Wednesday afternoon.
