Man breaks into Ibrahim Jame Mosque downtown, police seek public tips
Hamilton police are asking for tips from the public to help find a man who broke into the Ibrahim Jame Mosque downtown at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Police said in a news release that the man searched the mosque and stole various items before fleeing on foot" from the building at 778 King St. E.
The release describes the man as white; wearing a grey hooded jacket, blue jeans and winter boots."
On Jan. 7, the mosque posted on its website that a bomb threat had been received in relation to a congregational prayer." In 2016, police arrested a man for an arson attack on the mosque.
