If you were hoping for some sunshine to brighten up a dreary January week, you'd be out of luck.
Rather, more frosty precipation is ready to rain down upon the city.
Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning on Wednesday afternoon, alerting residents to potential snowy and icy conditions Thursday.
Freezing rain, which might be mixed with snow and ice pellets, will begin early Thursday morning before transitioning to the less painful, rain, by noon.
A few millimetres of ice buildup is possible on surfaces. Roads, walkways and parking lots may become slippery, so exercise caution when moving about - and give yourself extra time when driving.
The weather service also warns that utility outages may occur."
Thursday will reach a high of 1 C with more rain anticipated in the evening and overnight into Friday.
Cold and wet conditions are expected to last into the weekend, with periods of flurries likely on Friday and Sunday.
