The Dallas Cowboys want to keep impending free agent Tony Pollard and could use the franchise tag to stop the running back from hitting the open market, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The franchise tag for running backs is expected to be around $10.1 million, according to Over The Cap.

Retaining Pollard would give Dallas one of the NFL's most expensive backfields, as Ezekiel Elliott has a $16.72-million cap hit in 2023.

The 25-year-old Pollard produced a career 2022 season, racking up 1,007 rushing yards, 371 receiving yards, and 12 total touchdowns.

Pollard is set to be part of a loaded free-agent running back class, including Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders, Kareem Hunt, and Josh Jacobs.
