It took minutes for a fire to rip through Erin Watson's home in Hamilton and destroy everything, and she credits her dog Jack with saving her life. Structural fires such as these are burning hotter and faster, officials say, because buildings and contents are increasingly made from synthetics and petroleum-based products.
