Valens Lake now home to 8 new cabins
After spending the day exploring the great outdoors, you'll soon be able to kick off your snowshoes or hiking shoes and spend the night in one of Valens Conservation Area's new roofed accommodations.
The Valens Road nature park is now home to eight Drumlin cabins - a first for the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
WHAT DO THE CABINS FEATURE?
Each cabin features one of three different layouts with pine walls, ceilings and log furniture, offering an authentic feel of being in the great outdoors."
WHAT COMFORTS DO THE CABINS OFFER?
Every cabin is equipped with a bed (or beds), depending on size and occupancy. They also feature a kitchenette with a sink and fridge, a modern two-piece washroom and a dining table.
ARE THE CABINS HEATED?
Yes. The roofed accommodations are suitable for year-round occupancy. They are outfitted with baseboard heating for the cooler months.
WHAT OTHER AMENITIES DO THE CABINS OFFER?
Outside, you'll find a propane barbecue, a firepit and two picnic areas.
WHERE ARE THE CABINS LOCATED?
Located on the conservation area grounds, the cabins offer stunning views" as they overlook the lake and vast conservation lands, according to the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THE CABINS ACCOMMODATE?
Depending on the cabin's layout - there are three in all - the occupancy varies from one to six people.
HOW DO I BOOK A STAY?
Make a reservation - they are required. They open to the public on Feb. 8 at 7 a.m. Reservations, according to the conservation authority, are on a first come, first served basis. They can be made online at hcareservations.ca.
HOW FAR OUT CAN I BOOK A STAY?
Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.
HOW LONG CAN I STAY?
The shortest booking is two nights. The longest is 14 days.
HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?
According to the HCA website, the introductory pricing, per night, varies from $135 to $160, plus HST and reservation fee.
