Union leader hails value of talks as firefighters postpone UK strikes

Fire Brigades Union expected to ballot members on revised pay offer after face-to-face talks with employers
Matt Wrack, the general secretary of the Fire Brigades Union, hailed the value of face-to-face talks, as he confirmed firefighters have suspended planned strike action while they consider an improved pay offer.
With other unions across the public sector involved in widespread strike action, and exasperated at ministers' refusal to budge, Wrack said his members had been helped by the fact that their employers are not tied to the findings of a pay review body.
