The Indianapolis Colts are getting closer to hiring their new head coach.

New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is out of the running for the Colts job, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The team has also told Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan they have been eliminated from the search, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reports.

Indianapolis started its second set of interviews with candidates recently, reportedly including other finalists like Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Detroit Lions DC Aaron Glenn, Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, and interim head coach Jeff Saturday.

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted earlier this week that a final decision would be coming in "days, not hours."

Saturday took over for the Colts to end the 2022 campaign after Frank Reich's dismissal. The former center, who had no collegiate or professional coaching experience before taking the interim job, posted a 1-7 record with Indianapolis down the stretch.

The Colts own the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after finishing the year with a 4-12-1 record.
