2 men charged with attempted murder in Burlington shooting of young woman
Halton Regional Police have charged two men in relation to a shooting in Burlington earlier this month that left a 20-year-old woman seriously injured.
The shooting occurred just after midnight on Feb. 6. as the woman was leaving the parking lot of the Playground Global in the area of South Service Road, between Appleby Line and Burloak Drive, according to police.
Police arrested a 21-year-old man around 3:10 p.m. on Friday, Feb 10. Police say the man was arrested in a vehicle in Hamilton. On the date of the shooting, police say the man was allegedly operating the vehicle he and the shooter used to fled the scene.
The 21-year old man, of Hamilton, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder.
Police also arrested a 20-year-old man at about 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 10. The man, who was in a vehicle in Oakville when he was arrested, is believed to be responsible for the Feb. 6 shooting, police say.
The 20-year-old man, of Hamilton, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and discharge of a firearm with intent.
Both suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
As a result of the investigation, search warrants were executed at residences in Hamilton. Police have not recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
Police say the motive for the shooting is still unknown and the female victim remains in serious condition at a hospital.
The timely arrests of these suspects was made possible due to the collaborative efforts of the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau, Tactical Rescue Unit, K9 Unit, Mobile Surveillance Unit and 3 District Street Crime Unit.
