Hamilton police are investigating after multiple gunshots were fired at the back of a central Mountain house Wednesday night.

Police responded to the house on East 23rd Street, between Crockett and Concession streets, just after 10 p.m.

There were three people inside the residence at the time of the shooting, however, no one was hurt, said Const. Indy Bharaj.

Police found bullet holes in a wall and a patio door was shattered. Multiple shell casings were found at the scene and there were at least 14 bullet holes in the building.

It's unclear how the suspect or suspects accessed the backyard, however, there is an alleyway that runs behind the back of the residences on East 23rd.

No suspect description has been released.

Detectives believe the shooting was targeted.

Police are asking residents in the area to review surveillance camera footage between 10 and 11 p.m. Wednesday. Detectives are also looking for dash camera footage from drivers who may have been in the area during that time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. David Brewster in investigative services at 905-546-4067.
