It's a holiday but you'll still get your mail.

Family Day is Monday, a regional holiday that was first introduced in 2007 to celebrate the importance of family.

Many provincial and municipal operations are closed or will have reduced hours, but some federal services, like mail, will be open.

Here's what's open and closed Monday, Feb. 20:

Federal offices and Canada Post are open.

There is no green bin, blue box or garbage pickup Monday in Hamilton and Halton. Pickups will be one day later than usual. Community recycling centres and transfer stations are also closed.

The HSR and Burlington Transit will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule. Call 905-527-4441 for more information, or 905-639-0550 and burlingtontransit.ca for Burlington. DARTS will operate on a holiday schedule.

GO trains and buses will operate on a Saturday schedule on Family Day.

Animal services are closed.

Bank branches, LCBO, beer stores and retailers are closed.

Most grocery stores are closed.

Shopping malls such as Mapleview and CF Lime Ridge are closed.

Outlet mall in Niagara-on-the-Lake, 300 Taylor Rd., is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

All Hamilton Public Library and Burlington Public Library branches are closed.

City offices are closed.

Hamilton Civic Museums: Dundurn Castle, the Hamilton Military Museum, Battlefield House Museum and Park and the Steam Museum are open Monday.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is closed Monday.

Hamilton Farmers' Market is closed Mondays.

Royal Botanical Gardens offices are closed Monday but RBG Centre, 680 Plains Rd. W., is open for the winter exhibit Frogs ticketed event.

Rock garden is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trails are open dawn to dusk.

Free parking is available in downtown Burlington on the street, in municipal lots and in the parking garage (414 Locust St.) on weekends and holidays. Note: The waterfront parking lots (east and west) do not provide free parking on Family Day.

Hamilton Conservation Authority main office and administrative headquarters are closed Monday.

Ontario Works, including the Special Supports, is closed. Phone service will resume on Tuesday.

Senior centres: Ancaster, Flamborough, Club 60, Dundas, Main Hess, Putman, Rosedale, Southwest, Victoria Park, Warden Park, Winona and YWCA MacNab Street are closed Monday.

Sackville Hill is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday.

Arenas in Hamilton are on a modified schedule. Free Family Day skates are open at select arenas across the city.

Hamilton city drop-in gym and swim programs are open at select facilities.

Hamilton Waterfront Outdoor Rink at Pier 8 is open 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday.

In Burlington, drop-in swimming, skating and other program times vary for the long weekend. For schedules and online reservations, visit burlington.ca/dropinandplay.

Skating on the outdoor rink at Burlington Rotary Centennial Pond is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Hamilton Art Gallery is open with free admission from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

Hamilton's Winterfest celebrates with the Family Day Festival on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Winterfest Hub on Jackson Square.
