New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is in the process of changing agents before he hits the open market, sources told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

Jones is expected to be represented by Athletes First, who negotiated contracts for quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott, reports Raanan. CAA has represented Jones since he was drafted sixth overall in 2019.

The 25-year-old Jones could fetch a salary of over $35 million per season, according to Raanan, who adds the Giants will franchise tag him if the two sides cannot agree on a long-term deal. The nonexclusive tag for a quarterback is set at $32.4 million.

New York did not exercise the fifth-year option on Jones' contract last offseason, opening the door for him to hit free agency in March. Jones had a career year in 2022, totaling 3,913 yards with 22 touchdowns.

He just led the Giants to their first playoff berth since 2016. New York defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card round before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round.

"We're happy Daniel's going to be here," general manager Joe Schoen said in January. "Hopefully, we can get something done with his representatives. And that would be the goal, to build a team around him where he can lead us and win a Super Bowl."

Jones has started 53 games for the Giants in four years, throwing for 11,603 yards with 60 touchdowns and 34 interceptions.
