Snowstorm watch: Cancellations, closures and traffic in Hamilton area

Old Man Winter has struck again - Hamilton-area facilities are beginning to close and March 10 events are being cancelled.

Environment Canada earlier warned of heavy snowfall - with totals up to 20 centimetres in some areas locally - seriously affecting the evening commute.

Before noon, the Ontario Provincial Police were working to clear a five-vehicle crash on the 401 east of Milton. Also, OPP in Brant County closed Hwy. 24 between Bethel Road and Hwy. 53 due to collisions.

Burlington has issued a snow event" starting at 3 p.m. Friday, meaning cars cannot be parked on the road, to clear room for plows.

There are weather-related delays on the Lakeshore GO train line between Aldershot and Union Station. The transit operator said crews were out fixing multiple signal issues caused by the snow. At noon, GO train service was running between Union Station and Oakville GO, not going as far as Aldershot. Check GO Transit Service updates for latest.

At noon, Mohawk College noted that campus was open, however anyone travelling should make their own assessment about whether or not it's safe to come to campus."
