Two teens arrested, third sought after knife brandished at Lime Ridge Mall
Two teens were arrested, and one escaped, after a knife was brandished during an argument with two adults in CF Lime Ridge Mall Thursday night.
Hamilton police were called to the busy mall around 6 p.m.
Police allege the three male youths - wearing black ski masks - got into an argument with two adults outside a clothing store when one teen brandished a knife, said Const. Indy Bharaj. When told police were being called, they ran.
Based on witness descriptions, police searched and found two of the teens. They were arrested after a small foot pursuit," Bharaj said. The third teen escaped and police are working to identify him.
Initially, there were reports that a gun may also have been involved. However, after interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance, there is nothing to suggest the presence of a firearm at this time," he said.
There was a large police presence at the mall during the incident, including about 10 cruisers. No injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
