The productive Jackson has amassed 5 career INTs with 51 PBUs throughout his career. He was due nearly $12.2M in cash/cap next season.
The Steelers will save $12.2 million by moving on from Jackson.
Pittsburgh acquired Jackson and a conditional 2025 seventh-round pick in a November trade with the Washington Commanders for a 2025 conditional sixth-round selection.
The Steelers placed Jackson on injured reserve shortly after acquiring him, and he was never active for any of the Steelers' games.
The veteran reportedly requested his release while with Washington due to a poor scheme fit.
Jackson signed a three-year, $40.5-million contract with the Commanders in 2021. He spent the first four seasons of his career as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. The Texas native has tallied 205 tackles and five interceptions across six campaigns.
