Blaze at central Hamilton plaza causes $250,000 in damage
A blaze at a central Hamilton plaza Sunday night caused an estimated $250,000 in damages.
In an email, Hamilton Fire Department deputy chief Dan Milovanovic said crews were called to a structure fire at a commercial plaza at 94 Cannon St. W., at Bay Street North, just after 9 p.m.
Milovanovic said upon arrival, crews found smoke and heavy fire conditions" within one of the businesses in the plaza.
The blaze was brought under control quickly before it could spread to the other businesses, and a search of the building found there were no occupants inside at the time.
Milovanovic said the fire is believed to have been caused by faulty wiring and the damage is estimated at $250,000.
There were no injuries, he added.
