Jimmy Garoppolo is reuniting with Josh McDaniels.

The Las Vegas Raiders are signing the veteran quarterback to a three-year, $67.5-million contract that includes $34 million guaranteed, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Garoppolo spent the last six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. McDaniels, who joined the Raiders as head coach last year, previously worked with Garoppolo during his time as offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots.

The 31-year-old Garoppolo spent the first three years of his career in New England before joining San Francisco via trade in October 2017.

The Houston Texans and New York Jets also showed interest in Garoppolo, according to ESPN's Dianna Russini.

In Las Vegas, Garoppolo will replace Derek Carr, whom the Raiders released in February after nine seasons. Carr recently signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Garoppolo was expected to back up Trey Lance in San Francisco in 2022 but had to step in after Lance went down with a season-ending injury in Week 2. Garoppolo then started 10 games before suffering a year-ending foot ailment in Week 13. He finished the campaign with 2,437 yards and 16 touchdowns against four interceptions in 11 appearances.

A second-round pick in 2014, Garoppolo boasted a 38-17 regular-season record as a starter with the 49ers while posting a 67.6% completion rate with 82 touchdowns and 42 interceptions. With him under center, the 49ers played in two NFC title games and reached Super Bowl LIV.

However, Garoppolo's struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, having played only one full season since joining San Francisco and missing 25 games between 2018-21.

The Raiders entered the 2022 season with high expectations after hiring McDaniels and adding multiple high-profile players on both sides of the ball but failed to meet those expectations. Las Vegas went 6-11 last year, down from 10-7 in 2021.
