WATERLOO REGION - The uncertain summer schedule for Flair Airlines out of Kitchener may be made clearer today when airline president Stephen Jones addresses reporters at 1 p.m.

The discount airline intends to provide an update on its activities at the Region of Waterloo International Airport, and on its 2023 summer schedule.

The airline announced plans March 7 to provide more flights this summer out of the airport. That was four days before four Flair jetliners, including one based in Kitchener, were repossessed after the airline failed to pay their leases. This has led the airline to sue the company that took control of the four airplanes.

Flair has replaced the aircraft, but Jones warned March 14 there might be some trimming of the network."

The airline, which leads the nation in passenger complaints, accounts for the vast majority of passengers at the Breslau airport after regional government gave it temporary, exclusive rights to certain routes.

Before Flair jets were repossessed, the airport was forecasting 600,000 passengers this year, up from 375,000 last year.
