AirTag tracker in gun?

My neighbor had a break in and guns were the first thing the people took.

I'm Thinking about tagging my guns in case they get stolen. I believe I could hide one between the stock and buttpad or at minimum the case I keep them in. What's your opinion?

What if they are stolen and a crime is committed? Would that make my defense worse or better?
