Somebody give me advice

Hi everyone i recently received a Winchester model 101 over under from my grandpa after he passed its going to me for trap shooting i have a problem though, when i looked on the gun it was a certain type of specially made over under for the model 101 called the quail special, this is a 1-500 made gun made in 1984 its a 20 gauge and they go for thousands of dollars i am not going to sell it but i don't know if i should shoot it or not. This is a very beautiful firearm and is a very important gun but I don't want it to sit in a closet forever but i also don't want to ruin it someone please give me some advice.
