Ticats and kids have fun on the field

Football, flags, and most importantly, fun.

A group of local students from schools across the region joined several members of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field Friday for FirstOn the Field, a partnership between FirstOntario and the Hamilton Sports Group to introduce kids to flag football in a fun way.

More than 250 students joined Cats including Simoni Lawrence, Bo Levi Mitchell, Lawrence Woods III, Bralon Addison, and Tyler Ternowski to run a series of drills at several stations set up on the field.

Each participating student also received their own locker nameplate and a pre-game speech from Ticats players before heading outside to hone their skills.

The program began in 2017 and, except for some pandemic interruptions, has grown into an unqualified success, judging from the smiles on the faces of both students and players.
