Is Costco finally coming to Brantford? Building permits issued by city point to yes
It looks like Costco is coming to town, Brantford.
Heather Carvalho, manager of communications for the City of Brantford, confirmed to The Spectator that building permits were issued for a Costco warehouse and gas bar on March 10.
The store, slated to be built in the area of Lynden Park Mall, will span more than 16,000 square feet, according to Carvalho.
The value of the construction is estimated at $33 million, Carvalho added.
The Spectator has reached out to Costco for more details on the forthcoming location, which is not noted on their website.
A Costco spokesperson told the Brantford Expositor that new locations would be posted to the website once the company is ready to make an announcement.
A media request form on the Costco website also notes that the company cannot comment on locations that will be opening more than three months" from the date of the request.
The only Canadian location listed as coming soon" on their website is the recently opened store in south London - which is about an hour's drive away from the slated Brantford warehouse.
