Man riding stolen motorcycle dies following Hamilton Mountain crash: police
A Hamilton man riding an allegedly stolen motorcycle died following a two-vehicle collision early Friday evening on the Mountain.
Police are investigating the crash that took place before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Upper Wentworth Street and Stone Church Road East.
Police say a Honda motorcycle was travelling north on Upper Wentworth, while a Chevrolet van was travelling south. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
A 33-year-old Hamilton man, the driver of the motorcycle, was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
The driver of the van, a 49-year-old Hamilton woman, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the motorcycle was on file as stolen.
The police collision reconstruction unit took over the investigation which closed off the Mountain intersection for several hours.
