ffmpeg v4 to v5 upgrade breaks many SlackBuilds
by slack-uke from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6CABM)
Just a general observation.
I run both slackware64 15.0 & current machines. I keep a certain core packages running on both platforms and have noticed that SlackBuilds that rely on ffmpeg often break on current when building because of the upgrade to v5.
Is there a simple solution to this?
Many of the source packages have yet to upgrade to v5 so it is not just a matter of upgrading the source packages to the latest version.
The simplest kludge I have done so far is to disable ffmpeg capability.
Has anybody created an independent ffmpeg v4 for current that does not interfere with ffmpeg v5? something like having gtk2 & gtk3 or qt4 & qt5 coexist.
