VIDEO: Big fire in Oakville neighbourhood destroys multiple homes

A major fire has destroyed about a dozen homes under construction in Oakville Wednesday, though no injuries have been reported.

Oakville Fire Department responded to calls for a series of structure fires at a construction site in the area of Dundas Street and Ninth Line, according to Deputy Fire Chief Andrew Boys.

Boys said that 10 homes were engulfed in flames as crews engaged in aggressive suppression efforts to help control fire spread. Other homes at the construction site were also damaged.

There were no reported injuries - to the public nor the firefighters - as a result of the wind-driven fire, according to Boys.

The fire department has contacted the Ontario Fire Marshal's office to investigate the blaze.
