Which Distribution for a Tablet?

Let me ask what can be a loaded question. Which distribution should I use and why on my tablet I have. I want to switch it over to Linux, like I have with my main machine. However, this begs the question of what distribution.

However, this is not an open ended question with no way to answer it. First of all, I like Linux Mint, and that's what I'd like to become an expert in next, or at least what you might call a power user. I want to encounter and solve some problems, without losing too much productivity. I still want to get work done most of the time.

I will probably NOT be able to run a windows VM on my tablet, with the limited resources it has. This seemed like a big problem, however, I essentially have a server or two that I can log onto for when I must use windows applications. I want to use Linux apps whenever possible, even if they have windows counterparts.

I want it to have something similar to gnome for a desktop enviroment, as that would be best for the touch screen, since cinnamon does not have a tablet mode. That is, the gnome that Ubuntu has. I want it to be debian and if possible, ubuntu based, so it is allowed to have ppas, and has apt based package management.

Last but least, I want it to work as well as cinnamon on Linux Mint, which is why I'm currently afraid to install it on Linux Mint, but if that will probably work with no errors, tell me how and I would try it. But it has to not have weird unsolvable errors, like I've heard of with kde.

If Linux Mint can be used OK, then I can try it, otherwise advice on using Ubuntu, or if there's another distribution that does this, meeting all that criteria. I should try to limit my learning to 3 or 4 linux distributions at a time, save 1 or 2 server distros. Once I make my choice, I want to stick to it for long enough to become an expert in stuff, probably. I want to be the guy who can solve everybody's Linux issues, in Ellensburg, WA. I'm already off to a great start. You'll love questions coming up, after I even get back to regular schedule.
