Steam crashes on startup

Good Morning,
Just returned to Slackware after a lengthy absence. Followed the step-by-step to install Multilib + Alien's Steam package. Everything is installed, but upon starting steam it crashes rapidly, looking like it opens a terminal window first. I managed to get everything else working I wanted, but am currently hung up on Steam only. Does anyone have any suggestions?
NVME disc- AMD CPU and GPU setup - Slackware 15.0
