Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere will be suspended six games for violating the league's gambling policy, he said in a statement to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"The NFL plans to announce another round of sanctions regarding its gambling policies, and I will be included in this group of players receiving a six-game suspension," Petit-Frere wrote.

The 23-year-old is adamant that he didn't wager on NFL games, and the suspension is the result of betting on other sports while at the team's facility. He apologized for his actions, insisting he didn't "knowingly break the rules."

"I want to apologize to my family, coaches, teammates, and the Titans fans. I have always strived in every stage of my life to follow the rules. ... Even after attending a league presentation, I was unaware about the specifics around placing bets from a team facility," Petit-Frere added.

Several players across the league have been handed suspensions for betting on sports this offseason. Detroit Lions receiver Jameson Williams was also suspended for the first six games of next season for gambling on college sports at his team's facility. Williams said he was unaware of the rule.

The NFL suspended Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry of the Indianapolis Colts and free-agent defensive tackle Demetrius Taylor indefinitely Thursday for betting on league games in 2022. The Colts subsequently waived Rodgers and Berry after the announcement of the discipline.

Tennessee selected the 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive lineman out of Ohio State in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He started 16 games for the Titans during his rookie campaign.
