Can I use the official rustup script to install rust on Slackware rather than using SlackBuilds.org?

Hello,

I am interested in installing Slackware, and don't know very much about it yet. From what I gathered about packages in slackbuilds.org, you are supposed to download every dependency into the build directory before running the slack build script, and rustup has a lot of those dependencies.

If instead the rust up script provided at:
1. https://www.rust-lang.org/tools/install
2. https://rustup.rs/
probably works for installing rust on Slackware, as indicated in this thread: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...0/#post6412750, why should I manually download the many dependencies to install rust?

And if the official script does work, do I also have to install rust16 first because rust16 is indicated as a dependency of rustup in SlackBuilds: https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...opment/rustup/ ?

Thank you for reading.
