Intel Arc GPU with Slackware
by rdsherman from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6CQ1P)
Has anyone attempted to use an Intel Arc GPU with either Slackware 15.0 or current? I'm especially interested in laptops (Lenovo ThinkPad, e.g.), but desktop experience is also welcome.
There is little public info about this. Intel, on it's website, notes some hefty downloads for Fedora & Ubuntu. Needs kernel 6.2+ & mesa 23.1+?
This is of importance since Nvidia GPUs have been a major headache with either nouveau open source or Nvidia proprietary drivers in Linux. The Intel Arc series offers an opportunity to bypass the issues with an open source software solution that supports dedicated GPU hardware.
