Bills' Allen: Diggs minicamp situation blown out of proportion

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen doesn't see any reason to continue talking about the Stefon Diggs situation that took over headlines on the first day of minicamp.

Diggs was surprisingly absent on the first day of minicamp earlier this month, which prompted head coach Sean McDermott to say he was "very concerned" about his star receiver. Diggs' agent said the wideout had been in for his medical testing prior and had spoken to his head coach before leaving. Diggs later reported for on-field work the following day, with McDermott stating that he believed the situation had been resolved.

Allen believes the entire situation was overblown by the media.

"I love him. That's my guy," Allen said on "Bussin' With the Boys." "The media has blown this so far out of proportion. We are in minicamp. We're not playing a game for four months. He doesn't show up one day. He's still there - coach asked him to go home. We were in talks and discussions of trying to resolve some things, and it wasn't anything major, and (the) media just blew it up. They're still talking about it, like, let it go. There's no reason to continue talking about it."

It was later reported that the three-time Pro Bowl receiver was frustrated with his role in the team's offense and his voice in play-calling. Diggs' 2022 campaign ended on a sour note as he appeared to be upset on the sidelines with his quarterback during the team's playoff defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Diggs, who has made the Pro Bowl in each of his three seasons with Buffalo, recorded 108 receptions for 1,429 yards last season. He signed a four-year, $96-million extension last year that keeps him under contract through 2027.
