Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis issued a warning to those doubting the team's ability to compete without Tom Brady.

"Anybody who feels we've lost Tom and lost something is going to be in for a rude awakening," Davis told Tyler Dunne of Go Long. "Tom was a great addition for us, but, obviously, it's a team sport. Obviously, you need components to be successful. We still have those components. And I'm only getting better."

Davis promised that the Bucs are going to "wreck shit" in 2023 by creating an abundance of turnovers.

Brady's retirement following the 2022 campaign leaves the Bucs with a lot of unanswered questions in their quarterback room. Veteran Baker Mayfield is expected to compete with Kyle Trask for the starting job.

Even with Brady in the fold last season, Tampa Bay could only muster a 8-9 record before being bounced in the wild-card round. The offense struggled for consistency throughout the campaign, finishing 25th in points scored per game.

However, the defense remained stout as the unit ranked 13th in scoring and ninth in yardage. Davis contributed one interception and 12 passes defended.
