Linux and Windows Server shares
by kosta88 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6CVHB)
Hello,
I need a little help around Linux accessing shares on the Windows Server, be that NFS or SMB, in combination with Nextcloud. Windows server is in the AD-domain, and preferred way to be would be to use a service user.
The problems are as follows:
- SMB: problem is that while I can connect via SSH (and authenticate), accessing the share via Nextcloud external storage - "Local", which is bound to /mnt/folder, which is not authenticated with domain\user, but a simple local user, Nextcloud can't create folders or files)
- NFS: issue with new created folders not having correct NTFS permissions, not even inheritance enabled, thus not accessible through other clients without manual corrections
One caveat is, I don't really want to join the Linux server to AD domain, if not necessary.
I am aware that this issue is somewhere in between Nextcloud and Linux, I will ask on the Nextcloud forum too.
Can you please help me find the right way to do this, just put me on the right path?
Thanks
Kosta
