Start Page search engine issues and safety / recommended firefox extensions
by magster from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6CY4D)
I understand that Duck Duck Go is not safe. I just changed the default search engine on firefox to Start Page.I did restart my computer for this change.
When I open a new tab, it just says Firefox.
There is an arrow to the right of "search the web".
I click that and it brings me to Start Page.
* Just figured out I do not need to use the arrow/ just search using Firefox and it gives results using Start Page.....
I read how you can do a search and select a site by the mask symbol in front of it to perform "anonymous view".
First, is Start Page safe ?
If so, is using anonymous view a good idea?
Which other search engines are safe/recommended on linux ?
If Start Page is safe, how do I get a new tab to open with Start Page without first having to click the arrow on the Firefox page that opens on a new tab?
Finally. I currently have the following firefox extensions:
Https everywhere,
privacy badger,
u block origin
start page
Are those extensions good?
Any others you can recommend ?
Thanks in advance for suggestions.
