[SOLVED] Cant install linux on old dell machine win 11 machine
by Trasa from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6D467)
Posting in the newbie section because it seems like a basic install question, i figure i must just be missing something basic.
I have an old dell its uefi bios, disabled secure boot and i can boot to an install routine from a usb stick, but the install isnt seeing the 500 gb nvme drive.
The nvme drive i want to install to currently has win 11 on it.
I have tried slackware 15 and mx linux 21 and neither fdisk, cfdisk, cgdisk, or gparted can see the win 11 drive.
The machine is a few years old and being a prebuilt dell has a pretty primitive bios.
Any help greatly appreciated, i though it was just going to make quick work of installing slackware and configuring bind for a network name server and its turning into an all day job.
Thanks.
