Openvpn behaviour changed?

I use openvpn occasionally via network manager under KDE. Since a recent update, I am no longer able to login as I keep getting a prompt to provide a password for openvpn secrets!
I have never needed -or set- such a password before, so why has it started asking me for this now? (The password for the vpn is stored encrypted in networkmanager)
I have tried re-setting the vpn connections in networkmanager to no avail.
It looks as if a recent change has affected this, but I have no idea what!
Any pointers gratefully received!
