I can mount usb's & see parent folders but can't unmount or view contents within parent folders
by linux-man from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6DMVP)
I can:
mount usb
see all the yellow parent folders in dolphin
Problems occurred straight after one of these terminal commands:
df -h
lsblk -f
mount (nothing after mount but enter key)
ls -alb
After the above commands I accidently :
- used xkill command on plasma tray bar (bottom of screen that goes left to right of whole desktop)
- dragged virtual box to 2nd virtual desktop along with kate editor
Only one usb was mounted at the time with 4 txt file in kate editor open when I did df -h and lsblk -f in that order. I realised a few mminutes later that the single usb I had mounted at the time was now unmounted itself after those two commands in terminal and that Kate would not save or shut, I dragged Kate to the 2nd desktop (virtual) on the bottom right of tray, and it's been downhill after that.
I can mount the 2 usb I got and can see dolphin lists their content but when I click them nothing opens up. I see a 'loading in the bottom right hand corner tray of plasma kde
with is never ending.
When I shut down it takes forever and i am forced to power off via the wall socket will the usb's mounted (because they wont unmount anyway).
When I tried another different usb, it was able to mount and dolphin present the array of yellow folders but no sub branches.
I see a never ending 'loading' in the bottom right hand side tray near the clock.
CPU clock hovers around 50%-52% when mounted never did those figures before I implemented df -h or lsblk -f.
System monitor said kate editor is on disk sleep, I clicked end process wouldn't budge from 'disk sleep' it remained as is. When the usb were disconnected my CPU is at 4%. I have important files on my usb's.
I think I may have even ran 'mount' in terminal after the df -h and lsblk -f, just 'mount' the enter key. Was that enough to cause a usb to play up like this?
The usb is not expired as I can see its content and I can mount it, I just can't see the files within the yellow folders or its branches in dolphin.I tried a newer usb stick and same issue.
Sorry I can't upload screenshots right now because of browser issues. Thanks in advance.
