Most efficient RAM utilization

I am trying to deduplicate my files using DupeGuru. I have so many files that the app sometimes maxes out on RAM and then freezes.
I'm looking for a linux distro that can utilize RAM more efficiently. I already have several with small footprint -- lubuntu, puppy, DSL. But I'm looking for one that utilizes RAM for apps more efficiently -- so dupeguru can deduplicate hundreds of gigabytes without freezing.
