Report: Bucs' Gage out for season with knee injury
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage will miss the 2023 season after suffering a serious knee injury at practice Wednesday, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
The 27-year-old couldn't put any weight on his leg and was in tears as he was carted off the field, according to Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report.
Gage signed a three-year, $30-million deal with Tampa Bay prior to last season. He'd spent the previous four years with the Atlanta Falcons.
The LSU product was stretchered off the field in the Buccaneers' wild-card game last season after a hit to the neck from Dallas Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson. He was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a concussion and neck injury.
The injury leaves Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Deven Thompkins, and rookie Trey Palmer as the other receivers on Tampa Bay's depth chart.
Gage was a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has 244 catches for 2,491 receiving yards in 74 career games.
