Chicago Bears offensive lineman Teven Jenkins could miss time in the first month of the season after suffering a leg injury, sources told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

The 25-year-old Jenkins was briefly absent earlier in training camp with an undisclosed ailment. He didn't play in the Bears' second preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.

Jenkins shifted from right guard to become the Bears' starting left guard after they signed Nate Davis.

Jenkins has been hampered by injuries since being selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played in only six games in his rookie campaign due to back surgery and missed the second half of last season because of hip and stinger ailments. Overall, Jenkins has only played 100% of the offensive snaps in six of a possible 34 contests.

Former first-round pick Alex Leatherwood, Ja'Tyre Carter, Logan Stenberg, Dieter Eiselen, and Gabriel Houy round out the Bears' depth chart at guard.

Chicago kicks off its season Sept. 10 against the Green Bay Packers.
