Can't boot (Arch Linux)

After updating the packages and rebooting I can no longer boot into the system (Arch Linux).

Grub runs and prints the following:
Code:Loading Linux linux ...
Loading initial ramdisk ...
error: cannot load image.

Failed to boot both default and fallback entries.

Press any key to continue...I've tried to restore the system, but failed. First of all, I grabbed a live USB and chrooted into the system. Then I ran pacman -Syu. I also tried to make sure that there weren't any issues with grub or the efi partition. I regenerated the fstab file, ran grub-install and grub-mkconfig. Also tried running pacman -S linux to regenerate the image files in /boot. I did all of that multiple times to make sure I didn't screw something up, but to no avail.

Finally I tried downgrading to an earlier version of the kernel, but that also didn't help.

Basically at this point I'm willing to try anything. Go through the whole sequence again and post the outputs if necessary. This is my first time posting on a forum. I've got access to Windows (dual-boot) and a USB stick with the live image.
