Why does fstab have the option "comment=x-gvfs-show" against my cdrom?

I only just noticed this while answering a query. I gather that gvfs is the gnome virtual filesystem, but Slackware doesn't even use gnome (did it ever?). Anyway, I'm going to take it out but I'd like to know what it's doing there.
