Lost login password for Lenovo Thinkbook with Linux Mint preinstalled, how can I recover it?

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook-14s-IWL with Linux Mint Cinnamon pre-installed. Somehow I have forgotten the login password that I set up, and now I can't get in. I was sure I'd written it down, but can't find it. I've read plenty of possible answers that include accessing the grub hub from the menu that opens when you self install Linux Mint, but it doesn't work for this machine. I've also tried changing the password in BIOS, but it doesn't work for the login. Can anyone help me?
