unable to disable /dev/fb0 on efi_firmware
by ratan61 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6E7P9)
Hello Team ,
I'm raising this query for framebuffer which is being listed as /dev/fb0 which should be disabled as per our companies internal securitycompliance standards. I have disabled the file by adding nomodeset into the grub file and regenerated the grub file, reboot and then the /dev/fb0 is not listed.
HOwever , this is working on BIOS enabled rather than EFI Enabled systems .As per my search, I see the /dev/fb0 is listed in the server still for some
unknown reason though the NOMODESET is added in the grub file. Per my understanding , the file /dev/ef0 is being provided by efi_firmware which is managed by VMware and we have to control or no idea how this method works. Can you please help me how the efi_firmware file is generating from
vmware and how can we choose an option to disable the framebuffer from the display settings or any settings from VMware end ?
please reply urgently.
