QB Notes: It seems difficult to believe, but Sunday was just the 10th 300-yard passing effort of Lamar Jackson's illustrious career. That it came in OC Declan Doyle's first game as play-caller is an auspicious sign. That being said, Lamar will need Zay Flowers (hamstring) to suit up against the Saints if he is to have any shot at 300-yard day No. 11. Flowers is supposedly on the right side of questionable, though his Wednesday DNP" suggests otherwise. ... No one wants to overreact to Week 1. But as I say every year, there must be somereaction. It was impossible to watch the Bears against the Panthers and come away without a serious rankings boost for Caleb Williams. The Vikings' defense is a stiffer test than Carolina's, but Williams' play-making ability coupled with this play-calling and supporting cast has made it impossible to leave him outside the upper echelons of the QB ranks. ... Jaxson Dart's Week 1 certainly merited a reaction. His dual-threat proved almost impossible for the Cowboys to stop. Still fearlessly running despite his concussion issues, Dart's Week 2 road date with the Rams has lost a lot of its sting with Myles Garrett on the shelf. That will remain true even if 35-year-old Aaron Donald plays his first game in three seasons.

Jayden Daniels was sleepwalking through Week 1 until playing a nearly perfect fourth quarter against the Eagles. Hopefully it was just the cobwebs being knocked off after he went the better part of a year without playing a complete game. Daniels did strike up immediate connections with new veteran wideout Stefon Diggs and intriguing rookie Antonio Williams. The Cowboys are more forgiving Week 2 matchup than Philly. ... Trevor Lawrence certainly did not look like a regression candidate against the Browns, slicing and dicing until the score got out of hand midway through the second quarter. He has a tougher Week 2 test in the Broncos, but Lawrence simply appears at home in Liam Coen's offense. There is no point in taking our foot off the rankings accelerator. ... Drake Maye had one of the worst games of his career in the season opener. To add injury to insult, he lost his No. 1 receiver in the process. On the bright side, he kept up his rushing threat, and the Steelers are not as daunting of an opponent as the Seahawks. Maye belongs in the low-end QB1 mix at home.

Kyler Murray(concussion)suffered one of the worst injuries of Week 1 but tentatively appears poised to suit up against the Bears. If he goes, he will be close to a must start vs. a team-wide Chicago environment that appears set to be shootout city. If he sits, Carson Wentz will be a viable QB2. ... You always get concerned when an aging player opens the season with a stink bomb. For Matthew Stafford, we will just have to hope it was the result of the Rams' ill-fated Australian travel plans." That transparently disastrous itinerary produced the expected result. Now hopefully the same will be true for coming home and resting up. It must be said that the Giants did not have the looks of a pushover defensive matchup in the opener. ... Breaking in both a new play-caller and No. 1 weapon, Bo Nix literally and figuratively crumpled under the pressure in Week 1. That pressure is not about to let up for Week 2 vs. a feisty Jags defense. The Broncos are home favorites, and have a top half implied team total, but it feels like a good week to keep Nix out of the top 12 as the Broncos try to smooth out this revamped operation.

Week 1 was the full Jordan Love experience. The bad and the good combined to create a QB8 fantasy finish. Lacking a running game, the Pack are just going to have to let it rip through the air, including against the Jets this weekend. Love has the arm talent and supporting cast to make a QB1 day of it despite the mistakes. ... You could say Patrick Mahomes kept the ball underneath in Week 1, completing zero passes of at least 10-plus yards. On the bright side, it came against an elite pass defense as Kenneth Walker III confirmed this is a brand-new Chiefs running game, one that is going to have to be reckoned with. Hopefully that creates more time and space for Mahomes moving forward. ... I see little reason to treat Justin Herbert as a QB1 without Ladd McConkey, and I see equally as little reason to believe McConkey will play through his rib injury against the Raiders. Vegas does not project as a difficult matchup, but neither did the Cardinals. This offense looks completely out of sync, and Ladd's likely absence is going to make it that much more difficult for everyone to get on the same page. I am concerned about the Chargers' play-making depth.

He had the benefit of almost an entire extra quarter of game action, but second-year Saints starter Tyler Shough emerged from the opener as the QB4 overall. @BAL is not a great encore matchup to @DET, but the Saints' offensive intentions - and realities - are plain enough. This is a team that's going to have to throw a lot. Shough is a superflex starter who might slowly ascend the QB2 ranks. ... Bryce Young went nuclear in his defense-less game environment vs. the Bears. That's something he has proven surprisingly capable of during his slowly-advancing career. He's also been equally capable of quiet outings in sleepier setups. Sunday projects as one such setup vs. the quarterback-free Falcons. Week 1 was an interesting data point, but it's not yet time to force Young into the top 20. ... As expected in these parts, Jacoby Brissett knows how to play pitch-and-count with his talented, deep skill corps. The Cardinals played keep away in Week 1 with the Chargers. Considering their defensive limitations, that could be a weekly theme, limiting Brissett's QB2 upside. He's still a perfectly fine superflex option, even for daunting dates like vs. SEA. ... The Dolphins' passing attack" appears undeveloped enough that I'm going to ease off the Malik Willis QB2 gas. He did run for a score vs. the Raiders. There could be something to work with here. Let's just see it first.
