Upgrading Slackware. What will happen to the kernel?

Hello All,

I have a couple of upgrades. And there are upgrades for the kernel too.

Currently I have kernel 5.15.19. After the upgrade the new kernel will be 5.15.117.

What happens if I update the kernel too?

I assume that the upgrade will change the vmlinuz links (vmlinuz, vmlinuz-generic, vmlinuz-huge) to the new kernel file, and the system will boot with the new kernel the next time a restart. Would that be correct?

Would I need to create a new initrd.gz file after the upgrade?

Regards
