Hostng a service on slackware

Hello All,
I want to create a service (a simple service, HTTP, Rest) that will return a response when contacted.
I am trying yo contact the service using curl from some other machine. curl says it can not contact the server. Both of these machines are on the same network, connected to a modem via wifi.
Is there a firewall on slackware that comes installed as default? Do I maybe configure something to do this?
