VLC behavior different on install

When I install VLC 3.0.18 on mx-linux I have not issues with changing effect & filters option to change the video behavior. When I install the same version on Debian 12 the behavior is different. The effects & filters has no effect on the video even though I have tried the same exact video. Both machines use XFCE and I compared all VLC named components from mxlinux with Debian and the Debian 12 stall did not work.
Is it possible to compare a repo to find the difference in VLC? Mxlinux is Debian based.
